From Broken Back to Family Wellness: Amanda's Story with Chiropractic Care

If you’ve ever walked into OWL Chiropractic, you’ve probably seen me behind the front desk—welcoming patients, juggling schedules, or quietly updating our Instagram with pictures of nervous systems behaving themselves. I’m Amanda, and my relationship with chiropractic care goes way back. But my journey to this kind of chiropractic—the kind we practice here in Lancaster, PA—began with a very literal fall.

At 17, I had a serious horseback riding accident that left me with a broken back, nerve damage, and chronic migraines that followed me for years. I saw chiropractors, of course, but the care I received back then was reactive. Same adjustments every visit. No long-term plan. No connection to what my body really needed. It helped a little—but never enough.

Fast forward years later, still very much a horse girl, I met Dr. Lynn at the barn where we both keep our horses. I was curious about her approach—she talked about nervous system scans, full-spine digital X-rays, and care plans that were actually personalized. I decided to give OWL Chiropractic a try in 2016.

And that’s where things shifted.

Amanda and Dr. Lynn connected at the barn, where their shared love of horses led to a chiropractic care journey.

Why OWL Chiropractic Was a Game-Changer

From my very first appointment, I could tell this wasn’t a “crack-and-go” office. The care was gentle, the process was clear, and for the first time, someone was actually tracking my progress, not just adjusting me and sending me on my way.

Everything at OWL is based on objective data. We use thermography to monitor the nervous system before and after every adjustment. We take digital X-rays to understand spinal alignment at a structural level. It’s not about chasing symptoms—it’s about creating lasting change.

In 2017, I joined the OWL team. With a background in marketing and a deep respect for what this care had done for me, it felt like the right place to land. I get to help share stories like mine—and believe me, there are so many.

A Family Affair: Pediatric and Pregnancy Chiropractic

This isn’t just my journey—it’s my whole family’s chiropractic journey.

My husband Joel is also a believer now, though he was a bit more skeptical at first. For years, he dealt with migraines and tension headaches that would knock him out of commission. Since starting regular care at OWL, he no longer struggles with them. And even though he’s a self-proclaimed workaholic, he makes time for his adjustments because he knows how much better he functions when he’s aligned.

My oldest daughter, Alex, started chiropractic care during puberty to help manage scoliosis. With consistent care, we saw her posture, comfort, and overall health improve through this crucial growth phase. She's now attending Penn State and makes getting adjusted on breaks a priority.

My youngest, Maggie, has been getting adjusted since she was a baby. She’s rarely sick and has a nervous system that’s had support since day one. That’s the magic of pediatric chiropractic—supporting the body before issues become problems.

And yes, I was adjusted throughout my pregnancy with Maggie. The difference was stunning. Compared to my first birth, labor was shorter, smoother, and way more manageable. Pregnancy chiropractic care is one of the best-kept secrets for easier births and better outcomes.

It’s a Vibe—And a Community

People often say the OWL Chiropractic office “feels different,” and I know exactly what they mean. There’s a warmth here. A groundedness. We laugh a lot, and we care even more. It’s not uncommon to see kids hanging out by the front desk (yes, sometimes mine), and the energy in the office is always light, even when we’re helping people through heavy things.

One of my favorite parts of being here is watching the stories unfold, especially the women who come in after years of fertility struggles. When those miracle babies arrive, we get to watch them grow. I’ve seen some of those kids go from newborns to thriving, school-age bundles of joy—and that never stops being beautiful.

A Way of Life

For me, chiropractic care isn’t optional. With my history, it’s a non-negotiable part of staying well. But more than that, it’s a way of life I believe in. If you're curious about how it could help you—whether it's migraines, immune support, fertility, or just feeling like yourself again—I’m always happy to share what I’ve seen (and lived).

Because here’s the truth: healing isn’t a mystery. It’s a process. And here at OWL Chiropractic, it’s one we walk together—one aligned spine at a time.
