Often I am asked how I ended up in the world of chiropractic, and let me tell you, it has been a journey! If you didn’t know me before OWL Chiropractic you may not know that I am somewhat of a gypsy. I have lived at 36 addresses in my lifetime, and most of them were after I was 18 years old. However, Lancaster has proven to be the magnet that keeps pulling me back, with a third of those moves being within Lancaster County - and so are my longest 3 careers.

Before OWL, there were two main careers I had going for me. I was the Sales Director for a local dinner theatre where I got to travel around the country (and Canada) promoting tourism to Lancaster County. My side hustle during that timeframe, and up until about 5 years ago, was a Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay. Yes, I did earn the car - no, it was not the Pink Cadillac, it was a lipstick red Chevy Cruze! (AND most importantly, it is where I became friends with Heidi… yes, we existed before OWL!!)
One day at the theatre, we received a postcard from a local chiropractor offering a free 30-minute massage along with a new patient exam - and if it’s free, it’s for me, so I went! It was there that I was first exposed to chiropractic care. They explained to me how subluxations in my cervical spine were the main cause of my migraines, so I started receiving care with them.

Fast forward a couple of relocations out of Lancaster, and two years later, I returned to the area. A good friend of mine was part of a local networking group (BNI) and unable to attend her weekly meeting, so I substituted for her. Wouldn’t you know that Dr. Scott was the featured speaker at that meeting, and I was hooked! I immediately called OWL and set up a new patient exam. The warmth, the education, the technology, the results - OWL seemed to have it all, including the answers to why I was now experiencing lower back issues.
Has your lower back ever just decided it wasn’t going to work today? Well, mine has! I have been to the point where I have been crying on the floor and only able to get up with the assistance of my husband. The pain of what seemed to be a sharp knife sticking in my L5, disconnecting my body from my legs, was beginning to be a common theme, with no accident involved. OWL not only has made my lumbar more stable, but has been able to get me back up and operating when this does occur (which I’m proud to say is only once every few years now - same with my migraines!!)
So what led me to chiropractic? I drank the Kool-Aid. I believe in the philosophy. Our bodies have an innate intelligence to heal themselves when we give them the correct support. By simply getting our nervous systems online, so many illnesses, diseases, and injuries can be prevented. Chiropractic care is just one of the pillars of health that can help you operate at your optimal wellness.

And why did I leave my career in tourism and beauty to be an office manager? Because I get to witness miracles every day. I not only watch patients get relief from pain, but I get to see the bigger pictures…. a woman conceive within weeks of care after years of infertility issues… a child excited to share that she went to her first sleep over because chiropractic care stopped her bed wetting… an athlete increase their performance time during a race to achieve a personal best… improved sleep from someone that hasn’t gotten more than 4 hours at a time in years… so many activities we do on a daily basis, restored and given back.
That is why I love what I do and best yet, I get to do it with people I love and respect - and that, my friends, is why it is my honor to keep OWL Chiropractic running smoothly… well, that, and the free chiropractic care! #jobbenefits
