Many have seen him, and many may know him, but here is a little more about my man Fred. Fred has actually been in my life longer than Dr. Scott. When I first met Fred online, I would scroll and check out his ad often, however, it took a few weeks for me to inquire more about him. I was in the middle of a histology lab, holding a skull and trying to memorize all foramina, processes, fissures, etc, when it dawned on me that Fred could help me. It was later that night that I finally decided to meet Fred! This was around February 2010.

Fred was a great study buddy. He helped me get through histology, osteology, bone pathology, and a few other “logy” classes. He even helped me qualify for the carpool parking areas on campus! Around springtime, I started in the gross anatomy dissection labs on cadavers. This level of course load was like nothing else I had experienced in my academic career. I knew I was going to need more help studying than Fred could offer me. This is how I met Dr. Scott.
Dr. Scott was one of the main students performing a lot of the dissections, and he took really good notes. Many people don't know this, but Dr. Scott is very visual. He has a great ability to see something and recreate it. I started to take notice of this and his notes, and well, the rest is history.
Dr. Scott and I thought chiropractic school was truly amazing because of the friends and colleagues who went through it with us. There were about 10 of us, and we all helped each other out. We always studied together and divided out the work amongst each other so we could get it all done better and faster. When I started watching Grey’s Anatomy, the beginning of the series reminded me a lot of my group of friends. We all lived together in one house and studied around the clock with each other. Fred was always there, too!

When we started the office, Fred was our first hire, naturally. We had some rough patches, learning to work together, but overall, it's been great. He has had many jobs over the years, and currently, he writes our monthly newsletter. To show our support for him, we celebrated his birthday for an entire week in the office! One of Fred’s previous birthday bashes ended with the cops being called in the middle of the night. A balloon had come loose and was floating around the office, causing our alarm system to get triggered!
As I look back at my time in school, I realize that Fred was more than a skeleton. He was a symbol of the camaraderie and fun we had during the most challenging times in school.
I am so thankful to have met Dr. Scott. I would never have guessed that borrowing his gross anatomy notes and studying cadavers would lead to the life I know. I love being married to a chiropractor, and I love raising our daughter in the art, science, and philosophy of chiropractic.
